Rocketboom’d?
Todays edition of Rocketboom is a recap of CES 2006, and it’s just a flurry of images over the classic “Dueling Banjos” from Deliverance and as I was being rapidly bombarded by these pictures, at 25 seconds in one caught my eye…
Yeah, it’s a TiVo (enough of the TiVo lovin’ already man!) but not just any TiVo, it looks almost exactly like my TiVo Picture…
Now I could be mistaken, but it does seem a little strange that they’d show a Series 2 TiVo at CES when they had a brand new, shiny Series 3 on show. And I find it odd they’d take one from the same angle and distance as I did of my own TiVo in my living room…
Anyways, I put up a little comparison on Flickr and the two do seem to match… So all I can think of is “holy smokes, I got Rocketboom’d!”

EDIT (10/01/06 4:20pm): I got a nice email from Amanda Congdon herself (I KNOW!!!) explaining they did use my image and they were sorry for not crediting and they have rectified it. What a nice person :)

The Chronicles of Narnia
It was a lazy Sunday, so we decided to finally go and see The Chronic (what?) Cles of Narnia… And overall, I have to say, it was pretty ok…
Now, I’m sure I’ve read this book at some point in my life (infact I think most British school children were forced to), as some of it seemed familiar, but that was a long time ago and it was mostly long forgotten, but I was pretty satisfied with the movie. Sure, it had it’s shakey moments, like horribly bad CGI background on some shots, but on the whole it was well done, especially the battle scenes involving a cornucopia of exotic animals and manbeasts… The childrens acting was ok, not too wooden, though there were a lot of moments I wanted to slap the actress who played Lucy, or the Lucy character as a whole. I mean, you’ve just stumbled into a weird land through a freakin’ wardrobe, a half man/half goat Faun has just startled you then invites you over for tea, why in god’s name would you even think of saying yes?
Stupidity, or childhood innocence/naiveté I guess.
Anyways, I spent most of the movie wondering if Cate Blanchett was playing The White Witch, as Tilda Swinton bore a striking resemblance to her and her portrayal of Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other than that there weren’t too many distractions and as I said before, it was pretty ok, enjoyably ok…

Newsvine
Ever wanted to influence the news? Newsvine, the newest Web 2.0 (urgh) app allows you to do just this…
At least I think so…
I got invited into the private beta and right now it’s all a bit confusing, it’s like a news aggregator, and you have the opportunity to have your own column that’ll be published alongside AP articles, surely making all those years of studying journalism so you could write for the AP a complete waste of time. You can also seed news item that might interest other people.
It also allows you to comment on aorementioned AP articles, thereby almost making them blog entries. See, all very confusing, maybe time will make things clearer.
On that note, anyone want an invite?

Series 3 TiVo
TiVo show off a new Series 3 TiVo at CES, featuring dual tuners and it’ll be CableCARD and HDTV ready! Ain’t that typical? But still, HD compatible and multiple tuners, once the prices drop… Thats all I can tell myself. [via]

I Once Was Lost, But Now Am Found…
I planned on taking it easy this evening, watch “My Name Is Earl” followed by some NBA on TNT, but nooooo… Mingaling (The Merciless) drew me into her spiders web from which there was no escape…
That devious web is that of 43 Things/Places/People…
I thought I’d start off slow with 43 Places, but soon I was drawn in looking for places I’d been too… Places I wanted to go to, argh! Needed a break, so I hit up 43 Things instead, and that had pretty much the same effect, as did 43 People… God damn int3rw3b.
Well, at least we can show how “tightly-knit” the web can be if we all want to meet each other, go places and do things together…

Rose Bowl
USC failed to make history as Texas pipped them 41-38 in a classic Rose Bowl to win the National Championship. Vince Young may have had the greatest championship game performance ever. The Texas QB threw for 267 yards, ran for 200 more and scored three TDs, including the game-winner with 0:19 left.
