More Control
Today, Matthew at somefoolwitha.com released a little WordPress hack that creates a nice little floating admin bar at the bottom of your pages (assuming your a logged in admin of course).
So I’ve been playing around with it a little to get my own version going, I stripped out the posts, comments and category counts he had and added in an akismet spam counter and link to support forums for example. Now all that’s needed is someone with the know how to turn this into a plugin… Something, alas, I don’t have.

Pondering
Just a few things have been grinding my gears recently…
If I ever have to poke around inside a MySQL database anytime soon, I swear I won’t be held responsible for my actions. Is there anything more time consuming and mind numbing? Ever since the redesign I’ve had to tinker with one thing or another (like the moblog posts getting imported in the wrong order for instance) and I’ve’s hads alls I’s cans stands.
Tagging… Tagging posts sounded a good idea, in theory… Reality is completely different, especially retro tagging, it’s going to take longer than I first imagined.
Slow ass printers… We’ve finally bit the bullet and waded through the near thousand photographs from our wedding almost 3 months ago and slashed them down to 200 to put in two photo albums (that’s 200×2 so 400 in reality), but dear god, printing them is so painfully slow. At this point I’d gladly pay Target or Wal-Mart to print them as our printer has been running for almost 24 hours straight (minus a few hours in the middle of the night when we didn’t replace the empty paper tray) and it’s only done just over half… The current “job” is printing 96 images, I started it at 11:30 and at 5:11 it’s done 83 of them.
Is instant gratification too much to ask for?

First Amendment?
A new provision tucked into the Patriot Act bill now before Congress would allow authorities to haul demonstrators at any “special event of national significance” away to jail on felony charges if they are caught breaching a security perimeter. So I’ll quote the first amendment, the holy grail of the Bill of Rights… “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Kinda means next to nothing now…

Graveyard Shift
As my previous moblog entry showed, I was awake at an ungodly hour in order to make an 8am meeting in a graveyard, bizarrely I wasn’t even sure if I was going to go right up to last night…At the AFPG meeting on Tuesday, an idea of a photostroll in Oakland Cemetery on Saturday morning at 8am was thrown up, now I’m just getting out of bed at 8am, let alone being in Atlanta at that time, so I said maybe… Maybe with intentions to pass. But for some reason I passed out while watching the Phoenix Suns at Atlanta Hawks game on Fox Sports last night (no, the Hawks werent that bad (besides, I’m a longtime Suns fan)) and woke up at 3am after a most bizarre dream, the details of which I wont go into… By bizarre coincidence, this was the time I jokingly said I’d have to be awake at in order to make it in the planning thread on Flickr.
So at 3am I had nothing better to do than kill some time, so I left home at 6:45 and made it to Oakland at around 8, no thanks to MARTA (a theme from the last photostroll). A good number of people, around 23, also made the early morning pilgrimage to the cemetery to walk about, chew the fat and take some pictures of the gravestones and sights surrounding them, and at 8am it’s a fantastic place… Very peaceful, a million miles away from Atlanta as we know it, even though the skyline looms large. Anyways, I tried to avoid taking pictures of headstones and headstones alone, so I amused myself with the vistas afforded to me by the cemetery, but I did hunt down Gone With The Wind author Margaret Mitchell’s marker, which is hidden away round the back of the Mitchell/Marsh plot.
