Low Carb-A-Rama
So, the Cola Wars™ are hotting up again, this time aiming at those unfortunate enough to be on the carb controlled
FatkinsAtkins Diet with the introduction of Coke C2 and Pepsi Edge…Coke C2 is a foul tasting, bordering on disgusting, browny reddish liquid that’s half the carbs, half the calories of regular Coke, or “Coke Classic,” none of the “Coke” taste and 200% more gas… Oh boy is it gassy…
Now Pepsi Edge offers the exact same promises, half carbs and calories etc. OK, that’s all very good and well, but surely Pepsi One with it’s 1 calorie and zero carbs combination would be a much better alternative to Pepsi Edge’s 50 calories and 13 carbs…
Wouldn’t you think?
So what exactly is the point of Pepsi Edge? Selling a product on it’s low calories and low carbs combination doesn’t make sense when you have another product that has next to no calories and carbs…
Or is it just me?

One Reason Why Hypochondriacs Shouldn’t Use the Web For Self-Diagnosis
I’ve recently developed a bit of an itch, can’t stop scratching it… It’s a complete pain, scratching all the time, no relief…
So I go to WebMD and after a little a little searching it throws up Chickenpox…
Sypmtoms include:
- An itchy rash of red spots and blisters – check
Great… I try to think if I’ve had Chickenpox before, I dunno… Don’t think so, damn… So here I am reading about how “Chickenpox in teenagers, adults, and people with immune system problems usually is more severe and more likely to cause complications. Adults who become infected with chickenpox are at increased risk for developing a specific type of pneumonia (varicella pneumonia). About 20 to 30 adults out of every 10,000 (0.2% to 0.3%) who develop varicella require hospitalization.”
“I hope I don’t have Chickenpox,” I think, cause that would kinda suck… I quickly ask Phil, Erika and Adam if they’ve had Chickenpox before, and they all have had, so in the worst case scenario they would be “safe.” Of course I’m told I most likey don’t have Chickenpox, so what else could it be? Heat rash?
What Is Heat Rash?
Heat rash — also called prickly heat or miliaria — is a common condition in which areas of the skin itch intensely and often feel prickly, or sting, due to overheating. Heat rash looks like tiny bumps surrounded by a zone of red skin.
Woah, back up there… Miliaria??? My brain reads that and goes “Malaria????”, it took a few reads for me to realise that it was Miliaria, but Jesus… They should understand hypochondriacs like me will read this and think they have a death sentence looming over them.
As for the itch? I’ll give it a few days and see if it clears up, pesky hot and humid Georgia summer days…

Fuck the Forest
A Norwegian couple have sex on stage during a concert. Apparently it was an environmental protest of sorts… “The young couple, Tommy Hol Ellingsen, age 28, and Leona Johansson, age 21, are members of the environmental organization ‘Fuck for Forest.’ They have sex in public in order to put focus on the rainforest” [via]

Kerry/Edwards 2004
John Kerry chooses former rival John Edwards to be his Vice President come January 2005… And public opinion?
Go, ride that Anti-Bush ticket all the way to November…
Considering half the people could care less about vision and more about “Anybody but Bush,” I’m of the belief that they could tout a plan to ban roast beef sandwiches and Advil and they’d still get 50% of the popular vote.
Best quote I’ve read on the subject on YayHooray…

Independence Day
A crazy 4th of July weekend was had… Firstly was a YayHooray/humhum Atlanta area meetup on Saturday night, which was a fucking great time. We had arranged to meet in DuPree’s Tavern on Monroe Drive in Midtown at about 9, but turned into 10:30 or later. So we drank, played pool and had general hilarity til closing time at 2:30 am…
We then headed to the Hyatt hotel in Peachtree Center where Laurie, Chris and Mikhail were staying so the party could continue. It was about 3:45/4 am when me, Gary and Stephanie left to drive back to the northern suburbs, I’m hugely in their debt for taking my lame ass home over the Perimeter.
So yeah, great time, great fun and I hope to steal some pictures from the people there to document it… If any of them ever read this then we gotta do it again sometime.
Atlanta represent!
And as for today, I got home at about 4:30 am and slept on and off till 2 pm (lazy bastard I am), Phil, Erika, Adam and I went up to Lake Lanier to spend the day chilling playing uno, or swimming in the lake during a thunderstorm (highly recommended), we then watched the firework display before heading home. After going to bed and midway through writing this, Erika and Adam tried to spook me by throwing pine cones at my window, apparently to get my attention, as knocking on my door would be too easy… One of the neighbours was having a mini firework display in the front garden, or so they claimed, I think it was just them trying to scare me.

Spider-Man 2 Sets New Opening Day Record
Spider-Man 2 sets new opening day record. A huge $40.5 million, beating Spider-Man’s record by a mere $1.1 million, not bad for a Wednesday opening… But can it beat Shrek 2’s single day record of $44.8 million? And The Matrix Reloaded’s $146.9 million six-day box-office record?
