Mark Cuban on the Future
Mark Cuban muses about DVD’s and their capacity, HDTV and the future of things. “This time next year we should be talking about 1TB (that’s 1,000GBS) drives at 25c per GB or less. The increased capacity means not only that I can stick more HDNet movies or TV shows on a drive and sell them to consumers, but it also means that I can increase the quality of the picture substantially.”

The Scream
Armed robbers stole a version of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s “The Scream,” regarded by many as his most important work and an icon of existentialist angst, from the Munch Museum in Oslo. Not the first time this has happened, and there are a few versions still in the Museum, but you gotta wonder who would steal it in broad daylight… [via]

Garden State (Again)
After my rant on Monday, I bit the bullet and ventured over to Buckhead/Lenox to see Garden State last night, only to find out it’s went on a larger release today, dammit!
Anyways, It was well worth the journey to see it as its a great film.
It’s a story about Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff), a budding actor in LA, who comes back to his childhood home for the first time in 9 years after his mother dies. While having been gone, Andrew has been on lithium and other forms of anti-depressant medication all prescribed to him by his psychiatrist father Gideon (Ian Holm). Upon his homecoming Andrew has decided to take a vacation from his medication and take some time to re-connect with himself, there he meets up with an old friend (Peter Sarsgaard), finds other friends doing remarkably different things and he also meets Sam (Natalie Portman) during the few days he’s back.
It’s a strange movie, written and directed by Braff, who’s better known for his part as Dr. John Dorian in TV’s comedy “Scrubs,” it’s part dark comedy, part coming of age, intensely moving. Overall, impressive… And now it’s on a wider release, do yourself a favour and go see it.

Gmail Notifier
Google release an official Gmail Notifier to counter the other ones floating about out there. Pffft, I prefer the little Firefox extension one (so good it must be illegal). [via]

I’m a Moron
According to Mark Pilgrim, I’m a moron… But if I learn from my mistakes, does that make me an expert? An expert in what exactly? I dunno, sounds scary though…

Freddy vs. Jason vs. …. Ash?
First there was Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird, then Jason Nevins vs. Run DMC, then Freddy vs. Jason, more recently it was Alien vs. Predator, now it’s Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash in a Three Way Dance of Death™. Yep, looks like Ash Williams is being brought out of retirement to square off against Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees in the sequel to the 2003 hit movie…

Blogger Change
It looks like Blogger have added a little navbar on their blogs, I first noticed it on Evan Williams blog, but more and more have it now…
This can be most helpful for Blogspot hosted blogs as it takes away the Google AdSense adverts on their blogs in favour of the navbar, Tequila Mockingbird has already gone this way and the page looks much tidier, especially as it comes with a choice of colours (my old, ooooollldddd moblog is using the silver version for instance).

Garden State
I’d love to see that new “Garden State” movie I’ve heard and seen so much about, but only two screens in the Metro Atlanta area are showing it…
TWO SCREENS!
Sure, they’ll flood you with the trailers at every cinema across the city but only two actually show it. Does that seem right?
Seems like this is destined to be a DVD rental unless more (and closer) cinema’s start to show it… Shame as it looks to be pretty damn good as well.

Dream Team
USA men’s basketball team lose an Olympic match for the first time in 16 years after a shock defeat by Puerto Rico. The “Dream Team” really looked like a bunch of rookies for the entire match, awful passing, awful shooting and awful defending. Just plain awful…
