Golden Ticket
I got an invitation to use WordPress.com today, quite unexpected… It feels all very Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-esque.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away you entered your email address on http://wordpress.com/ to get a blog.
We’re now inviting small groups to use WordPress.com and your email address was selected today!
While you’re on a string of good luck it might be a good day to buy a lottery ticket.
Cheers,
The WordPress.com TeamSweet or what? Now I’m getting a sneak preview of the new look backside of WordPress 1.6 (I believe) which is chock full of AJAX (or insert relevant buzzword here) goodness… As it’s a Blogger hosted type service the options are a bit limited, like only 8 themes to choose from (6 new as well as the default and classic) and you can’t customise these themes neither, though I hope that changes in the future.
On with the screenshots I guess…
This is the dashboard area, much like the present one except it has links to new WP.com posts and hot WP.com blogs etc. It also shows the new colour scheme for the admin interface…
The biggest change is in the posting page, the box can be dynamically resized, and it has also been dumbed down, no more entering html by default (though there is an option for that) it’s now like a bog standard text editor, a lot like Microsoft Word for example (probably a bad one), I’m none too fond of it though…
Just a little example of the themes available…
so there you have it, if you want to see my empty space, go to scamcity.wordpress.com, I’m not sure what to put there…
Oh another thing… I have invites for WP.com, so if anyone else wants a wordpress.com blog, drop a comment and I’ll hook you up, assuming the story you provide explainig why you want/need one is good enough…

The War on Terror is Over, Now There is a War on Porn…
One of the top priorities for the Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales is committing FBI agents to investigate and harass the pornographic community, not child porn, or other such badness, but regular, consensual, adult based normal porn. This administration has its collective heads up its own asses far deeper than anything you see in porn…

Polling the Nation
Tonight ESPN.com ran a poll regarding the New York Yankees chance of making the playoffs, now polls on websites are standard things, multiple choices, end result, tried and tested method, but ESPN take the end results to a new-ish level.
Well, this is the normal way of dealing with poll answers, and boy, not a lot of people like the
evil empireYankees… But wouldn’t it be nice to see where these Yankee lovers come from?Oh yes, a nice state by state breakdown shows all the Yankee love comes from New Jersey (surprise), New York (surprise, surprise) and… Wyoming?!?! What the hell Wyoming, what you doing purple?
Just shows that a LOT of people hate the Yankees and Wyoming is slightly confused…
Personally I hope the Yankees don’t make the playoffs, they are a game and a half behind a Cleveland Indians team who has worked their asses off to get in the Wild Card race, and also to get to within 2 and a half of the once seemingly unstoppable Chicago White Sox…
Not only that, but the Wild Card race in the National League is white hot too with the Philadelphia Phillies and Florida Marlins 1 and 2 games behind the Houston Astros, I’d much prefer Philly or Florida to take the Wild Card as it would mean the Braves would face (currently) the San Diego Padres, or infact anyone who “wins” the NL West, officially the worst division in baseball… And that’s as good as a bye in the playoffs.
There I go, jinx in place, prepare for me to eat my words come October…

Renée Zellweger-Chesney Returns to Being Just Renée Zellweger
Oscar-winning actress Renée Zellweger and country singer Kenny Chesney are seeking an annulment after four months of marriage. Four whole months, that’s like a lifetime in celebrity marriages, and to thicken the plot somewhat Zellweger listed “fraud” as the reason for the break-up but did not elaborate.

Potty Break
This is too good to be true…
In what seems destined to become one of the most joked about photos of the month, a well-known Reuters photographer on Wednesday captured President George W. Bush scribbling a note to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a session at the United Nations. On the note is a message revolving around the need to take a “bathroom break.”
I think I may need a bathroom break? Is this possible?
No really… It’s true… The President of the United States of America is, in essence, asking Condoleezza Rice for a hall pass during the 2005 World Summit and 60th General Assembly of the United Nations.

iPod Overload
My iPod is about 20 or so months old, back when I got it I never though I’d ever be able to fill it’s 20GB capacity (well, thats a lie for a start, it’s closer to 18.5GB brand new)… Now with the introduction of iPods with color screens and iPod nanos, I really need to think about upgrading…
Yes, not only has my poor little iPod been bashed around by Chicago O’Hare Airport security staff as well as dying a slow drawn out death with it’s battery (hey, it lasted past the 18 month barrier despite near constant use) it’s now woefully lacking in the memory department.
At least iTunes says so… As the actual about info on the iPod says a different story.
So what is it? is it 600mb left or 2.6GB?
I’ll need to be careful, I won’t be able to get a new one this side of Christmas and the wedding…
