The European Union Threaten To Lay the Smackdown on Microsoft
The European Union have threatened to fine Microsoft 2 Million Euros a day until it opens up its Windows operating systems to rival companies. Now, I’ll bash Microsoft at the best of times, but this just seems like a joke, the EU are basically asking Microsoft to open up their biggest commodity and hand over intellectual property to whoever wanted it…

Jimmy Wales and the Case of the Sticky Wiki
Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales pulls an “Adam Curry” and edits his own Wikipedia bio to make him seem more important in the creation of Wikipedia. Sad, sad, sad… Is this what we’ve become? Who can pimp themselves the best in Wikipedia?

It’s Coming
Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the phase of the moon.
Now would be a great time to start making sure your themes and plugins work with the new version, and post to hackers if you need any help updating them.

Matt MullenwegWednesday or Thursday huh? I don’t think I’ll be rushing to upgrade, I have a little thing on the back burner that’s taking it’s sweet time (all will be revealed, literally…) and I have a family Christmas to look forward too, so I’ll probably take the dive after then. Plus the screaming hoardes of people bitching about broken themes/plugins on the WordPress support forums should have died down by then, hopefully…
I do have a beta running elsewhere though, and to call it WordPress 2.0 is a helluva stretch when compared to WordPress 1.5.2, I will miss this Tiger Admin plugin though…

Who Do You Look Like?
Who do you look like? Apparently, nowadays, I look 60% like Linus Torvalds and Serge Gainsbourg, don’t ask me how… Back in the day I was 48% like Babe Ruth and 44% like Alyson Hannigan…

Miami Vice Teaser Trailer
Miami Vice Teaser Trailer. Not much to go on, but hey, Ricardo Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) gets top billing over Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell). And it needs some Jan Hammer in there instead of Linkin Park/Jay-Z…

Ben Wallace Rocks
Ben Wallace makes an otherwise uninteresting Detroit Pistons vs. Sacramento Kings game a bit more interesting. He wore some big red glasses for the first 5 minutes… Add in the pineapple ‘fro and you got some class there.

King Kong
It’s been a while since I went to a movie theatre, I think it was when Robyn and I went to see Serenity, so when King Kong came around, I HAD to see it…
And words can’t properly describe it, so this will have to do…

Seriously, it was that good…
OK, I’m sure you know the story, a film crew goes to the appropriately named Skull Island for an exotic location shoot and discovers a colossal giant gorilla who takes a shine to their female blonde star, who the natives try to sacrifice…
It’s a long movie, it does drag for the first 20 to 30 minutes, but that aside it’s excellent, once they reach Skull Island it’s non-stop action involving a whole manner of creatures (including some that will make you squirm) and it doesn’t let up all the way to the finale on top of the Empire State Building. Of course the special effects take centre stage here, Kong looks fantastic (another great job by Andy Serkis), there is real emotion coming from the giant gorilla and I kid you not, the ending will leave you bawling… Naomi Watts is good as Ann Darrow, she has that damsel in distress screaming down pat but Jack Black is awesome as the slimy Carl Denham who looks to be for more comedic value at the start but shows his way of manipulating people and eventually Kong as the movie goes on.
It is recommended, but only if you can sit there for 3 hours… What’s with these epic length movies nowadays? Even Harry Potter is 2½ hours long and Chronicles of Narnia isn’t far off… I blame Peter Jackson.
