Mexico slams Georgia migrant law. The Mexican government has condemned a tough new immigration law passed in Georgia on Monday. Presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar said the legislation discriminated against Mexicans and that diplomats would monitor how it was applied. The law, which will take effect next year, prevents illegal immigrants from receiving many social services. It will also require police and employers to report undocumented workers to the Immigration Service.

Blogosphere Doubling In Size Every Six Months
Blogosphere doubling in size every six months. According to Technorati, they are tracking 34.5 million blogs. Back when I started blogging, blogging wasn’t even a word and back when I moved to b2/WordPress in August 2003, there was barely 1 million blogs. Crazy, huh? [via]

Bunny Massacre
Don’t let the title fool you, last night we did massacre a poor defenseless bunny, systematically dismembered it and then eat it raw… Hey, it’s what married couples do on a Friday night.
Here is our bunny of choice, look at him just sitting there, without a care in the world. I’m going to enjoy this…
Enter the big guy weilding a big ass knive, you can almost see me salivating… Oh yes, I AM going to enjoy this.
The tension could literally be cut with a knive…
From the onset, it was clear this was going to be a messy, bloody affair. Good thing we were prepared.
Poor Bunny with a crimson mask…
After a little struggle, it was finally decapitated, but what was that strange smell?
Ewwwwwwwwww! The bunny’s bowels had let go, this required a bit more clean up then we first thought.
The perfect killer blow, a nice clean, straight cut… Bunny never knew what hit him.
Then you just yank the ears off and it’s good to go, we prefer to eat it raw like this, it keeps the flavour.
The kitties were circling like vultures, so we let Felix have a little taste…
Blood on my hands and a lot of mess to clean up… There is more to see over at Flickr, though it’s not for the faint hearted.

“Ninja” Arrested in Athens
ATF agents are always on alert for anything suspicious, including ninjas. It’s just not safe to be a ninja in Athens anymore…

Some Baseball Related Thoughts
Just a few things that are on my mind over the last few days and hours.
- The Federal Government must be really bored if they are going after Barry Bonds for perjury, there can’t be that much going, never mind that little “war” thing going on in Iraq and soon to be Iran or the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui… It’s just like those congress hearings on steroids in baseball last year, completely pointless. When the government tries to interfere in sports, nothing good happens, ever!
- Jeff Francoeur, you son of a bitch, no sooner had I bitched at you for your lack of production than you go yard. TWICE! Pity the Braves still lost after a disappointing first few innings and an inability to move runners on in the 9th. Sounds like history repeating, or same shit different day.
- Again on the Braves, it deeply saddens me that they have dropped the vertically arched lettering on the back of the jerseys this year. ESPN’s Paul Lukas agrees with me. No really, it’s sad for two reasons… 1) it just looks nicer (example 1 of vertically arched lettering) (example 2 of plain arched lettering) and 2) I spent most of Monday’s game trying to explain the concept of vertically arched lettering to Robyn… On the plus side, my Sunday alternate Smoltz jersey now matches the on-field version, score!
- Has anyone else set “Bonds on Bonds” as a season pass on their TiVo? Man, it’s like the trainwreck you can’t but help watch, and with todays goings on, you KNOW next weeks episode is going to be juicy (maybe in more ways than one).

Feds Investigating Barry Bonds For Perjury
CNN reported Thursday that the federal government is investigating whether Bonds committed perjury when he testified during his grand jury testimony in the BALCO case in 2003. Now I’m neither for nor against Barry Bonds but I do find it suspicious that the names of Jason Giambi and Gary Sheffield are never brought up anymore, didn’t they all admit to unknowingly using steroids during the BALCO Grand Jury hearings? Hell, didn’t Giambi flat out say he did use steroids?

Mixed Feelings
As you might have guessed, Robyn and I went to the second Braves home game of the season last night, and it was a pretty mixed night, it could easily be split in two, the first three innings and the final six… After going to Mondays game, we were able to trade in our ticket stubs for free tickets to last nights game, the downside, they were in the second to last row closest to god, way past nosebleed and into “need an oxygen tank and a band of sherpas to get there” territory.
So I went down early as Robyn had a long day at work, I soaked up the atmosphere, as it was the 40th anniversary of the Braves coming to Atlanta, they wheeled out the 1966 team, a nice touch, especially the ovation Phil Niekro got. Once the game got underway it was a bit dsappointing, Jorge Sosa gave up 4 runs in the second as Robyn joined me and she was unhappy as I was with the seats, so we went looking for new, closer ones…
$20 later and we were in the outfield bleachers, and then the fun began, for us anyways… We’ve sat in a lot of places over the years at Turner Field, we prefer the Lexus Level, we have season tickets for there, we’ve also sat on the lower levels, even the front row once, but the outfield was a different experience altogether. For one, the fans were a lot more vocal, also the infamous wave always starts out there. Last night’s started in our section. So there we were, yelling at fans to throw back Phillies home runs, danced with delight when Brian McCann homered in the 4th with the ball landing close to us, jumping around like maniacs when Brian Jordan got a double and Pete Orr got a triple (Pete Orr!! Triple!!!), but alas poor hitting and the inability to move runners on cost the Braves dear, 14 hits and only 5 runs and the Phillies took the game 7-5. Jeff Francoeur has been disappointing, he might have got a hit last night and scored a run, but his batting average was like .035 before it, pitiful compared to his stunning start last year, his fielding is suspect thus far too… Shame, I wonder how much his benchwarming act at the World Baseball Classic had to do with it.
And finally, here is a panorama from the “need an oxygen tank and a band of sherpas to get there” section, puts it all in perspective…

Flight 93 Transcript
The transcript of the final moments of United Flight 93 that crashed into a field in Pennsylvania on 9/11. Call me an ass if you like, but given that most of the the last lines are in Arabic, like “(In Arabic:) Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest,” it doesnt sound much like the passengers had overpowered the terrorists and crashed it… More like the terrorists decided to kill themselves and everyone on board before they were shot down, or maybe they were shot down, hence the abrupt ending…

The Weekender
As I mentioned before, we drove to Charlotte on Friday to celebrate Jill’s 30th birthday, but for a while, it looked like we’d never get there. Traffic on I-85 was downright appaling when we got past the Mall of Georgia exit, now usually that’s when traffic tends to dissipate, so you know something was wrong. And I guess on a Friday afternoon people will do some crazy things, like driving up the shoulder when a Gwinnett County sherrif is 3 cars ahead of them… But alas, the major holdup was all caused by a severe case of rubbernecking, not even good rubbernecking either, just a minor spat on the southbound lanes. Dammit!
Anyways, we arrived in Charlotte around 8:30-ish so it wasn’t too bad I guess, plus since we had arrived the smaller family celebration could begin, that means cake. Now I’m not sure where they got the cake from, but Jill and Ryan brought a similar one down for our wedding rehersal dinner and they are so damn good. The next day was Jill’s birthday proper, and after calling my brother to wish him a happy 30th also, Ryan, Frank and I drove up to Hickory to pick up Jill’s present, an antique Volkswagen 181 (aka The Thing). Now this is a fun car to drive around in, though it requires a bit of work to it.
In the evening was the proper party as friends of Jill and Ryan came round to celebrate, Robyn and I most hung around in the back yard around the fire pit, talking to the people who would come out for a while. We left for home on mid afternoon Sunday, arriving home just in time for bed time.
And to wrap things up, we took Robyn’s parents to Turner Field for the home opener against the Phillies, but again, the traffic made it look like we’d never get there. It was an enjoyable game, one the Braves won 5-3 after homers from Andruw Jones and Marcus Giles.
We’ve also found Sally has taken an extreme liking to Charlotte (the kitten), he is now always trying to hump her! Well, at least he’s no longer trying to hump Felix now…
