World Trade Center Remembered
This was taken on September 7th 1999, nearly 2 years to the day before hand, from the observation deck on the Empire State Building, during my first and currently only trip to New York City.
It’s weird to look at nowadays, very ominous with the top of the twin towers surrounded by clouds, also because I’m shit scared of heights, and I remember that I had to literally inch my way towards the fencing around the edge so I could take the picture. Apologies for the crap quality, it was taken pre-digital with a disposable camera.

5 Years On
So where are we five years on?
I’ve had pretty little to say about this day over the years, The day after was a big long spiel. But I’ll go back to what I said a few days before 9/11 in 2002:
Has it really been a year? I can close my eyes and remember it like it was yesterday. And what has been accomplished in that year? Next to nothing… Sure, they’ve cleaned up Ground Zero and stormed Afghanistan but really, we’re no further on than we were on September 12th 2001. The main bad guys are still at large and attention has shifted to Iraq.
What are you going to do on Wednesday? I think I’ll have a few quiet moments at approximately 9am EST then get on with my life. I’m kinda glad I’m not in America for that event, as I’m sure it will be blown way out of proportion in a shower of red, white and blue. Don’t get me wrong, to each their own, but life goes on, all things must pass. That’s all I will say on that subject. For now…
So, it’s been two years since the two planes hit the two towers of the World Trade Center. How much has been accomplished in those two years?
The Taliban were driven out of Afghanistan, but most of it remains a No-Go zone. Iraq was “conquered†but soldiers are still dying today on the lawless streets. Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein still remain at large.
And that’s it.
And apart from Saddam being captured and now currently tried in a show trial, not a lot has been done in 2 years. 2004 and 2005 passed without much thought and today I’ll probably do what I did every year since then, pause for a moment before 9am and then get on with my life

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will retire from Formula One at the end of the season. Love him or hate him… Formula One won’t be the same without him…

Series 3 TiVo Date and Price?
It looks like the Series 3 HD TiVo will be shipping September 17th and it’ll cost around $800. Hopes. Dreams. Wishes… All dashed… I was hoping for the $300 to $500 bracket.

Rockabye
Rockabye Baby! transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies. The delicate sounds of the glockenspiel, vibraphone, and other instruments will lull your little one into a sweet slumber. Yes, your baby can rock out in their sleep to the likes of Radiohead, Pixies, Tool, Björk and even Metallica. Plus the album art is funny…

Twittering
I’ve added a new feature that comes via Twitter, a little notice of what I’m currently doing…
So far I’ve only posted two entries, but since it can be updated via the web or via SMS on the phone it should be a bit more frequent, at least until I get bored. If you’re a fellow Twitter user then you can find me here…

Are You Ready For Some Football?
So tonight is the big kick off, and for the first time since 2003 it’s not taking place at the not-quite-frozen-yet tundra of Gillette Stadium, instead it’s at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh…
As the Pats aren’t playing I don’t really give a proverbial crap about tonight, and seeing as most of the Pittsburgh team is either injured, moved on or in the commentary booth, it’s hard to even care about them… Without Ben Roethlisberger, Jerome Bettis and Antwan Randle-El, that leaves, what? Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu playing ironman football against the entire Miami Dolphins, and judging by the Dolphins dire performance last year, Hines and Troy might just win…
And what’s with Big Ben? First a major motorbike accident, now a burst appendix, doesn’t this guy even care about his internal organs anymore? Instead they’ll have Charlie Batch at QB tonight, at least it’s an improvement over Tommy Maddox, but not much…
