Grind House Trailer. The more I see of this movie, the more I realise how much it will make all future cinema irrelevant… Why? The chick with a gun for a leg. A gun! For a leg! Does it get better than that? I don’t think so…

Spammed a Lot?
In the 18 months since I’ve installed Akismet on this site, it has now edged past 3 quarters of a million spam stopped…
Saved me 750,000 clicks, say I had to delete them individually, and say it takes approximately 2 seconds to delete a comment what with the click, page reload etc, this saved me 17 days of constant clicking… Not too shabby… Especially since a year ago it was only around 20,000.

Guest Bedroom
A couple of night’s ago we finally finished a room, lame I know but we’re busy people with jobs and stuff… But while we’ve been unpacking a box here and a box there, there are still boxes laying around and we felt like we don’t really accomplish much, so with my mother coming to visit in 2 weeks time, we put our collective efforts into the guest bedroom.
But it was not without it’s problems, as we got the bed from IKEA, we got a wrong part, the wooden slats that go across and support the mattress, we actually debated if it was worth the 8 hour round trip to Atlanta to get them, but in the end Robyn went to Lowe’s and had them cut up a piece of 3×1 and it worked a treat. Add in a pull out chair/bed, a bookcase full of books, a few lamps and we got ourselves a guest bedroom… We don’t care if the rest of the house looks like a bomb site, we’re just happy we have a guest bedroom, though for the time being it’s turned into the cat’s room.
Now we just need some guests so we can evict the cat’s guilt free…

Info on Heroes Season 2
Tim Kring, creator of NBC’s hit series Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming second season will constitute a new volume in the multi-volume series, with new characters and an entirely new storyline. “If you remember, the opening of the pilot pronounced the episode as the beginning of Volume One,” Kring said in an interview. “Volume One comes to a conclusion at the end of episode 23, and Volume Two starts with the opening of season two. And Volume Two is a different story.” This is a pretty cool idea, I was wondering if they would drag out this storyline for years and years like some other shows.

Twitterific
No, not the Twitterific app for Macs, just me being constantly surprised by Twitter, like if you do the “@[whoever]” before your comment, it adds a little “in reply to” at the end.
Shame they altered “from mobile” to “from txt,” can’t have everything I guess.

Minor League Hockey
Thanks to Robyn’s new job in the unnamed home improvement company not headquartered in Atlanta (maybe I should drop this charade and just say she works for Lowe’s?), we scored sweet suite tickets for a hockey game yesterday between the Charlotte Checkers and Florida Everblades. NHL this was not, it wasn’t even “minor leagues”, this was the blood, sweat and tears of “AA” ECHL hockey, it’s far from glamorous, but enjoyable none the less…
It was actually a really exciting game that Charlotte won 5-4 after overtime, it had multiple lead changes, penalty minutes by the score (54 total), a couple of fights and a cruel overtime winner. What more could you ask for? I have to say, we were spoiled sitting in the suite, free drinks and snacks will make another non-suite visit seem like less of an experience, we have tickets for the Bobcats game next Monday in the upper level, these are free Lowe’s tickets too so we’ll see how that goes. Jill and Ryan came with us as Robyn scored 4 tickets, so it was cool to get to hang out with them, they had been to a few games before, and they are self confessed “booth snobs” and I can see why…
I can see us visiting the fabulous Charlotte Bobcats Arena (strange seeing a new arena without a corporate sponsorship) more often, given Robyn’s luck in scoring free tickets, it was funny as we were looking into seeing a hockey game against the Gwinnett Gladiators before Robyn scored these, she definitely likes hockey a lot better than basketball, she’s only going to the Bobcats game because they were free… I won’t complain, I know she does this because she knows I like basketball and hockey, shame we’ll miss Braves baseball over the summer.

Six Die in Bus Crash in Atlanta
A bus carrying a college baseball team plunged off a highway ramp in Atlanta, killing at least six people. Apparently the bus was in the HOV lane of I-75 and continued up the exit ramp at Northside Drive thinking it was still the highway and ploughed on through, the scene looks like a complete mess.

Spamalot
Long before we planned on moving to Carolina, we bought tickets for Spamalot at the Fabulous Fox, which meant one thing, another 4 hour drive along I-85, which makes it our 13th time (it would be 14, but we drove down I-77 to I-20 one time to stop by Robyn’s parents house in Milledgeville) doing that journey in the last 10 or so weeks. Frankly I’ll be happy if we never do it again, but we have to drive back to Milledgeville next month to pick up my mum…
So we left home at about 6:30, and by the time we got to Carnesville, just past the South Carolina/Georgia border, we were both running low on energy, so we stopped at the Petro there for some coffee and sugar to get us the last 80 or so miles. We eventually rolled into Atlanta around 11pm. An early rise the next morning was not what I really wanted but we had to go to Lowe’s, IKEA, Restoration Hardware, Container Store and Bed, Bath & Beyond as well as cleaning up the condo before headed downtown for a meal at the Gordon Biersch on Peachtree before the show.
We were going to the show with a handful of Robyn’s old co-workers, Dave and Lori also showed up to “have my back” as I’d be outnumbered by Robyn’s friends… It would also be the last chance I’d get to hang out with any of the APWBWGTTD for the foreseeable future, so that was cool. I spent pretty much all my time talking to Dave and Lori, sharing jokes watching Dave wax lyrical about the virtues of spam, he apparently loves the processed pork. Not my choice of meat, but in the words of Dave, whatevs…
The show it’s self was side splittingly funny, highly recommended if you ever have the chance, it’s only in Atlanta till March 4th or thereabouts.
