Where to begin… Where to begin…
1) SPAMFILTERS: There’s a good place to start, as a few people have not been receiving my emails because their new fangled spam filters scan my email and decide it’s spam because it’s “@scamcity.co.uk”… DIE!
2) RIAA: According to my stats, I got referenced by their site on Wednesday, don’t ask me how, it’s one of those great unexplained mysteries… Like Yahoo searches reaching me using keywords like “prostitution”, “croppers”, “incarnation”, “proselytizing” and “melody”… I can think only one of those words would be relative…
3) STUPID PEOPLE: Nah, too easy… Stupid mobile phone providers is a bit more specific. I took out a year contract with Orange at the end of September for my new-ish mobile phone, and despite getting no signal in my home, I stuck with it, but as I’m leaving the country in 2 weeks time I thought, “hey, I’ll try and be nice to them and say I’ll pay up my contract therefore releaving me of that burden when I can’t keep an eye on my financial state” or something like that… So I call them up on Thursday night when I got home from work at 7pm, I was then told that I had to call the cancellation department, “can’t you just transfer me? Help a brother out man!”. No such luck, their only open between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday…
OK, I call yesterday and was told, “No, we don’t want your money, thou must honour the contract”, so I say “I WILL be honouring the contract, but I’m not paying £15 a month for the next 8 months when I’ll not be living in the country or using the phone, so wouldn’t it make more sense to pay you a freakin’ lump sum of £120 (8×15)?”.
Apparently not.
Luckily my broadband provider is a bit more helpful, even though I just said I was moving to a house that’s not covered by their network so I’m paying them £175 to clear that… £300 to clear my commitments in this country, what a sad, sad life I’ve led… Luckily I’m selling my phone so I’ll be able top recoup some of that money and take it down to the £200 to £250 region
14 days… Hurry up already!
