A Death in the Family

I think my old video iPod is on its last legs, which is a shame as its barely 2½ years old. I think its down to a combination of age, overuse in its younger days and underuse since its big brother, the iPhone, came on the scene.

Here’s the prognosis, it charges just fine, but it lasts approx. 25 minutes at 50% volume, which doesn’t last long enough for my morning commute (or indeed my evening commute), and that, well, kinda sucks… 25 minutes worth of music means 0.2 seconds of video, so henceforth it’ll be known as “the old iPod.”

I’m desperate for a remedy, maybe a battery replacement, as I’m not quite ready to let go of my old friend. Can anyone think of any other solutions? Sure, I could just retire it and use the iPhone, but I don’t want to invest in a headphone jack adapter for it so it’ll play nice with the FM modulator, and the iPod wired remote doesn’t work with it so skipping tracks becomes a life threatening event, which isnt cool…
