Muddying the Waters

So a whole slew of new iPods were announced today… I’m starting to get a bit jaded about this product line.

the new line of iPods

Back when I got my 1st 3g iPod it was the choice of 15gb, 20gb or 30gb… That was it, one model, different capacity, simple. And it only played music, no photos, no videos, no phone calls, hell, it didn’t even have a colour screen, an antiquated concept some 4 years later it seems as now even the Nano does video. When my 5g came out, people were complaining that it’s screen was too small to watch a video on, what’s a Nano screen going to be like?

It just looks like they are squeezing everything they can out of the iPod family, from the Shuffle to the Nano, the “classic” to the Touch as well as the iPhone. Providing everything for everyone, at a cost of course, like an iPhone is now the same price as an iPod Touch, so do you want a phone or double the storage?

I’m not getting a new iPod, it’s not my turn. Robyn’s had a 4g (not the photo version) for 3 years, I’ve had my 5g video for nearly 2 so if anyone gets an iPod it’s her. But now I’m thinking that I want an iPhone, especially since they slashed $200 off of it less than 2 months after the came out… At this rate it’ll be free in 6 months…

The sorry lament of a consumer…

Even I’ve got an I-Pod shuffle now. Listen to it on my bike along the canal going to work…over 250 tunes on it
