So, I’m sitting here watching the Braves do an oh, so familiar collapse an TBS, and I’m more missing the fact I won’t see a game for a long time rather than the depressing scoreline that currently stands at 11-1 to the Mets in the top of the 8th.
I’ve always been to at least one April game since I moved there in 2004, even going to the home opener last year, the early season game always have a good atmosphere, usually a full house and a lot of eager anticipation. Once May rolls around and the stifling summer heat comes in then the crowds drop off and usually they pick once the bandwagon rolls on, but not last year. That was genuine surprise, long after the Braves season unofficially ended, they still managed to draw decent crowds.
But I digress… This week has been hard, 3 win on the road I couldn’t listen to without playing $15 to MLB and now TBS isn’t on free cable, or even free TBS in HD OTA. Thankfully there isn’t another baseball team nearby or I’d be facing a local blackout, like Trashers hockey on FSN South or SportSouth as this is, apparently, Hurricanes country, even though Atlanta is only 75 or so miles further away than Raleigh.
So yeah, even though the Braves are getting blown out tonight, I wish I was at the game… That’s just the way I am.
