There IS a big, ultimate, 6-film Star Wars anniversary DVD box set planned for 2007. There will be more changes to the films, and there will be LOTS of new, never-before-seen special features – all the good stuff that was held back by Lucasfilm from the original Trilogy DVD release a few years ago. And so the LucasFilm cash cow keeps on rolling… And I’m an SO there! [via]

I want to say I won’t but I will…my force is weak. I wonder if it’s blu-ray or HD-DVD bound?
So Very Predictable…
If anyone else in the world were to stand in front of a few hundred thousand people and ask them to throw money at them — and not just a little money, but nothing smaller than a ten, fifties are preferred — they’d probably get very soundly beaten. I…
No Blu-Ray – No HD-DVD. Lucas will ride the standard-def DVD wave until the feud is over between the two hi-def formats and one of them is dead. Then he will wait a couple of years at least until the format is at optimum quality and he will release a set at that point.
He did it with Beta/VHS. He did it with DVD because he felt “DVD is an emerging product” and that the quality was still being developed, even though it had already been on the market for 10 years when he said that and compression had improved immensely by that time.
In other words, don’t get your hopes up next year for a hi-def version. Be prepared to pony up for another standard-def set and then in another 5 years be ready to buy them again in HD.
By that time, we probably won’t be using disks anymore though….
Well , When it comes to dvd quality , nobody really does it better than T.H.X. / Georgie and the gang. Blue ray player’s not only play DVD’S , but they make them look slighty better than average , not that I’m complaininng with DVD. So I’m really excited for this set. I’ll bet ya two bottles of cola that it will hit our galaxy in the next yr. or two with the Live action show , and the 3-D clone war show.
