Lies, Lies and More Lies

Video showing President Bush being warned on the eve of Hurricane Katrina that the storm could breach New Orleans’ flood defences has emerged. It appears to contradict the President’s statement four days after Katrina hit, when he said “I don’t think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees.” Seriously, it would take the most hardcore Republican to see that this man should not be President…

I don’t think that it takes the most hardcore republican anymore; I think it just takes someone that is deaf, dumb, and blind. I am serious when I say that too; because if you listen to what is really happening, understand that he is a fucking liar, AND see that he has been doing that since, well forever, anyone could recognize that he is a huge failure and a disgrace to the presidency.

    SO yeah!

I haven’t had a chance to read up on all of this yet, but the first stuff I’ve seen so far says that there was talk of the levees being breached but no mention of the storm actually busting them down. I’m not defending the Prez, I’m just saying… I can’t imagine him lying about that but he very well could have. I still don’t see why so much blame is being put on the federal gov’t though since the local gov’t is the one that is truely responsible for all those people still being in the city when the levees were breached/busted (whatever!).

There’s plenty of blame to spread around the different levels of government, but for Bush to say there was no “situational awareness” about the potential damage from Katrina’s impact was DISHONEST. Given the possibility that the worst could really happen, why did everybody just hope for the best?

There WAS awareness, but there wasn’t the leadership to knock heads together and say “Regardless of who is responsible/to blame, let’s get people out of there NOW, given that people’s lives are at stake with this potential natural disaster.” And let’s not forget that there was a test, a fictional worst case scenario called Hurricane Pam, which predicted many of the things that happened in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

“I can’t imagine him lying about that but he very well could have.”
You mean he wouldn’t lie, like he did about the Iraq war?
You mean like he’s lied about so many other things?

Yup, he’s got track record of being an entirely honest president – or maybe I’m thinking about anyone apart from Shrub. :P
