Gonna Fly Now…

For the last few weeks now, I’ve pretty actively been looking for gainful emplyment while I wait on the immigration status to move forward, and after applying for a position at a large company (I’m not naming names right now) I’ve got a fair amount of positive remarks back from them in a very short space of time. And today was to be the much dreaded phone interview, so I needed some inspirational music to pump me up while I waited on the phone to ring…

Robyn chose stuff that she thought would be good, but in this situation only one thing will work… The Rocky soundtrack!

Bill Conti – Gonna Fly Now

How can that not pump you up? Shit, even writing about it makes the hairs on my arms stand up…

But it gets better…

Bill Conti – Going The Distance

Good god, how can Bill Conti wrap so much emotion into a song under 3 minutes long? Follow this up with any orchestral theme (see, Wagners “Ride of the Valkyries” or Ryuichi Sakamotos “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence”) and you’re good to go… Alas my interview was postponed at the last minute, but I’m prepared for next time.

Random: DeEtta Little sang “Gonna Fly Now” for Rocky – she’s now DeEtta West and in a six degrees move, I’ll tell you that I used to work with her and she now works for the Gospel Music Channel in Peachtree City. She’s a published author, motivational speaker, actress and minister.

Oh and PS you can even download it as a ringtone. ;)

I know what you mean, whenever I go for a run (which is a rarity these days!) any song associated with Rocky always puts me off slowing to walking pace for a little longer.

Good luck with getting the job – but how will you go from a life of laziness to one of a wage slave?
