Today we learned how peachy Atlanta can be, albeit the hard way…
Robyn had taken the day off so we could go get my physical examination done for the immigration, then we headed downtown to go to the Social Security Administration office so she could become Robyn Smith for real, and we drove right into uncontrolled chaos… Following directions from Google, we exited the downtown connector having seen little or no traffic along the way only to find our way barricaded off, turns out today was the start of a weekend of “Spring Break” like proportions in Atlanta…
Peachtree Street (and every street within a 2 block radius) was blocked off for the Peach Bowl Parade which kicked off at lunch time, we got there an hour before it started so finding a parking spot was a lot of fun… The Peach Bowl is on tonight at the Georgia Dome, it’s a busy busy weekend for the dome as it also hosts the Falcons vs. Panthers on Sunday and the Georgia Bulldogs participate in the Sugar Bowl on Monday, so downtown today was full of LSU and Miami fans, along with parade participants…
Add in the Sugar Bowl Parade of New Orleans proportions as well as the Peach Drop at Underground, it’s gonna be a bad time to be driving in Atlanta this weekend.
