Like many others, I’ll admit to really liking this song by Kelly Clarkson, which now seems like less of a stigma than I previously thought… But now Matt Haughey ups the ante with a cover of it by Ted Leo that will grab your crotch and rock your little world…

Ted Leo has one of the most amazing voices ever. He cuts into “maps” by the yeah yeah yeahs in the middle. You should have heard this live at the el rey. He was simply fuckin’ awesome. He said he will only play it in California too. BITCHES!
I like Ted Leo’s cover but I think many people have lost the jab that he is making at the Kelly Clarkson track that takes a hook directly out of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’s wonderfully raw song Maps… and I like that Ted inserted the Map’s chorus as a bridge into his version of “Since you’ve been gone” to point that out.
I have no idea what Ellogoods is talking about. Ted genuinely likes the song. The hook may or may not be stolen. The melody is similar, but you are just another punk who is scene and thinks that he knows what he is talking about. Christ, does the parade of you fools ever end?
Yeah, there are similarities, but a lot of songs owe a lot to songs before them, if I was seriously to give a list of similar sounding songs, I’d be here all day…
I, personally, love Kelly’s song and Ted’s cover is one of the best out there…
Like many others, I have not felt completely comfortable admitting that I actually LIKE an American Idol song, but because it rocks I am eternally grateful that you found another version so I can toss something else on continuous repeat on my iPod.
I love the song but the hook is a sure rip of of the yeah yeah yeah hook in Maps
His voice was way too whiny, however, I like the fact that he pointed out that Kelly’s version totally ripped off the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

i think people arent giving Maps the Credit it deserves and are all kelly clarkson-ed about it. I like all three groups and this cover of her/both songs.

Maps and Since U Been gone are both great songs, and Ted Leo is a great man for covering them. Additionally, who cares if Kelly borrowed a hook from Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Since U Been Gone is a really enjoyable song, and anyone who disagrees needs to take themselves slightly less seriously. No doubt Karen O. would approve.
this cover is really great ted leo has one of the best falsettos in the biz and maps is also another great tune and i would have never put the two songs together but the genius of mr. leo does it for me
