Tour De Lance

Lance Armstrong does the cycling equivalent of a bitch slap on Filippo Simeoni during the 18th stage of the Tour De France. An off-bike rivalry continues unabait as Simeoni, who accused Armstrong of cheating dope tests last year, and Armstrong, who called him a liar and Simeoni responded by suing him, have a “heated” exchange mid stage after Simeoni made a break from the peleton…

A 6 man breakaway was ahead of the main peleton. Simeoni bridged the gap to it. Armstrong followed and basically said that he would let the breakaway fight for the stage win, but only if Simeoni dropped back. Apparently a few riders then asked Simeoni to drop off, eventually both men dropped back, but not before having words on the way, Simeoni finished second to last in 145th place while Armstrong cruised in at 75th some 11:29 behind eventual winner, Juan Miguel Mercado.

Really, Cycling is like a big game of chess, played out at 40+mph…
