A few weeks ago we decided to go on a road trip to Florida to check out potential places to live in the not-too-distant future, this was nixed a few days before we left. Instead we decided to go camping on Lake Lanier, at the same campsite as before…
By way of a backstory, the Explorer has been on it’s last legs for a few months, so we decided to get it a new engine and all that stuff, pretty much a complete overhaul so everything was supposed to be fine. So we loaded the truck up with all our equipment and the dogs and stopped off at the local Wal-Mart for some last minute supplies, Erika and Adam stayed in the truck with the dogs, making sure they were cool, while me and Phil went inside… We came out to find the AC had quit and Erika could smell anti-freeze. Not good, the truck was limped over to the far side of the car park and the hood was popped to find the engine coolant nearly empty, and what was left was boiling, and I mean literally percolating away… No way the camping trip was on now. So a quick change of engine coolant later and we ease our way home wondering what the hell was wrong and thankful it was only 4 or 5 miles from home, as opposed to the middle of nowheresville, FL.
Hopfully the truck will be ok as we need to look at new homes on Lake Lanier sooner rather than later…
