Matt has a great idea about iTunes… Actual physical cd’s! And I’m tempted to agree with him on this. I used to buy cd’s like they were going out of fashion, in my peak I was getting close to a dozen cd’s a week, then I got a decent internet connection (and napster) and that number dwindled to 1 or 2 a week, then soon enough it was 1 or 2 a month or longer… Then I just stopped buying altogether once I got a broadband connection as I was downloading entire albums at a time… It was easier, certainly cheaper, and I got albums I wouldn’t normally go and buy so everything was great.
Once I moved here, everything slowed down a bit, I couldn’t download much as the RIAA was threatening legal action so why risk it? I kept the collection up to date with the help of a few friends and FTP sites, then I decided to bite the bullet and test the waters of the iTunes Music Store. Since I joined at the end of May, I’ve offically bought 231 songs, which would be $228.69 but some were complete albums which work out cheaper.
So now I’m back in the practise of paying for music, I’d like a physical copy of the song’s I’m buying, I’d like to read the sleeve notes, I miss looking at the heaving shelves of CD’s I use to have before I came here, plus if anything, god forbid, should happen to my computer and my iPod, I have a backup to rip back into mp3, or even ACC, format…
Even if it meant an extra buck or two to the price, most people wouldnt mind, I don’t think… I certainly wouldn’t.
