Major Win in Augusta

I forgot to mention… Congratulations to Phil Mickelson for winning his first Major at Augusta yesterday…

Mickelson celebrates at the 18th

After 47 attempts, it’s about time Mickelson won a big one.

Phil gets his green jacket“I kept saying to myself that this was my day,” said the American left-hander, who sank an 18-foot birdie putt at the 18th to see off Ernie Els.

“I just kept believing that something good was going to happen”.

“With it having been such a tough journey it feels even better,” said Mickelson at the end of his 47th major.

This just leaves Colin Montgomerie as the sole contender for the title of “best player not to win a major”.

Good old lefty (and I don’t mean you you wally)…anyway how do you figure that Monty is the ONLY good player not to win a major…..what about Padraig? or Charlie Howell III ?

How about the fact he’s dominated the European Tour for the last 10 years and went to play off’s in 3 Majors (94 US Open, 95 USPGA & 97 US Open) but has yet to win…

One could argue Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood or Sergio Garcia are the best players YET to win a major… But their still relatively young compared to Monty, who’s what, 41 this year?

I think time has run out for Monty.
