It Promised So Much

For Rangers, it was a season that promised so much, and for the first two months it looked like it might be one of those years. Unbeaten, top of their Champions League group… Things never looked so good.

But if there was one moment where you could say it all went pear shaped, it would have to be the 87th minute of the Panathanikos game on October 1st 2003 in Athens when 2 points were thrown away in a game they controlled for 99% of… The month that followed that was absolutely dreadful and things just progressed from bad to worse right up til today when Celtic all but won the championship after a 2-1 win at Ibrox.

I can’t remember a season that promised so much yet delivered so little, well apart from the 1997/98 season, but that’s a whole different matter.
