There’s one headline I never thought I’d write, but it’s true…

Billy Idol - Happy Christmas

And incase you thought the (what appears to be poorly Photoshopped) album cover wasn’t proof enough…

I’ll admit it, my first reaction, apart fom bouts of uncontrollable laughter, was this:

it’s a nice day for a …. white christmas
it’s a nice day to… staaaaaaaaaaart aaaaaaaaaaaagaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain

Just a reminder that Christmas is but a mere 25 days away.

Sure it’s not as popular as, say, St. Patrick’s Day… But where’s my parade and flimsy excuse for public drunkenness?

Huh? Thought so…

The seed was planted over Thanksgiving weekend, and in that short time from then till now it’s snowballed faster than a snowball hurting downhill gathering more snow as it goes. So it seems that in our apparent near future, we’ll be bidding adieu to Atlanta and c… C… Is there even a word that means hello that begins with C? Ahh… Cua nque’msaa (it’s Tataltepec Mexican, go look it up) to Charlotte, North Cackalacky.

When will this happen? I’m not quite sure, it all depends on the stars and planets aligning just right, definitely not till next year anyways. Again, it all depends, we’re already applying for jobs so who knows?

So my 3 year adventure in Atlanta is drawing to a close, it’s been a fun ride.

Kevin Smith’s long ass iTunes playlist. Apple rejected it for having too long descriptions… A fine example being “Track: Cold Sweat (Live (1968/ Dallas Memorial Auditorium)) Artist: James Brown Album: Say It Live and Loud: Live in Dallas 08.26.68 – This is James Brown doing his best Eddie-Murphy-Doing-James-Brown impression nearly twenty years in advance of Eddie Murphy actually doing any James Brown impression. It’s one of the greatest live recordings of a single in history, and with a running time of twelve minutes and fifty one seconds, you’d be hard pressed to find a better bargain for ninety nine cents on iTunes. It’s like getting four songs for the price of one! If you act now, we’ll throw in a set of steak knives.”

Much like Maigh, I spent 5 days (give or take) away from the front of a computer and strangely I didn’t miss it one bit… And after last years long haul to Charlotte, this year it was decided it would be more local at Robyn’s parent’s home by Lake Sinclair.

So I worked for about 3 hours on Wednesday, decided it wasn’t even worth the effort of getting in in the first place, so at lunch time I made my announcement of “screw you guys, I’m going home!” and by that time traffic was already backing up in all directions, luckily we had packed and stuff the night before, so all that was required was picking up the items, drugging Charlotte (she’s a bit skittish and doesn’t like people being in the same room as her let alone traveling) and loading up the car with bags and cats for the haul down to Milledgeviile. Our one saving grace is I-285 was a nightmare, but only up until the I-85 exits, but I-20 wasn’t so great neither, but that quickly disappeared the further we went, I guess no one likes to go in the general direction of Augusta… All in all it still took an hour or so longer than usual but we did make a few quick stops along the way.

Now, we did get down in time for Thanksgiving day, but our Thanksgiving meal wasn’t until Saturday as Jill and Ryan were having their Thanksgiving at Ryan’s family’s home. They arrived late on Thursday night, so Friday was just a day of relaxing… For the record, our “thanksgiving day” meal was a chipotle cheese macaroni and cheese, which was pretty good.

Basically the entire 5 days was one of relaxing, watching TV, watching DVD’s, eating and sleeping. Ain’t nothing wrong with that now is there?

I managed to get my hands on the new Beatles CD “Love” today, and It’s so good I need to share some of it’s fantastic compositions. Incase you’re wondering about the “new” Beatles CD, it’s from a collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil, who have a stage show set to music specially mixed by longtime Beatles producer George Martin and his son Giles… The result is an official Beatles mash-up CD as songs are mixed together seamlessly to create a whole new sound.

The Beatles - Love

Love samples 130 songs to create 27 musical pieces. The songs are mixed so that the lyrics and instrumentation from one song blend into the next. One musical highlight of the show is the new version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (see below) that matches the first studio demo of the song with a string arrangement written for Love by Sir George Martin.

I’ve also included the mash-up of Drive My Car, The Word and What You’re Doing to highlight the blending of multiple songs.

Hungary and Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskás has died at the age of 79. Puskás led Hungary’s golden team of the early 1950s, before taking Spanish citizenship and becoming part of Real Madrid’s all-conquering team.

US Airways has made a $8bn offer to merge with rival Delta Air Lines, in a deal that would create one of the world’s largest airlines. Under the terms of the deal, both airlines would combine once Delta emerged from bankruptcy protection. I wonder how this will affect my SkyMiles…

It’s more like fever pitch temptation… And I’m a weak fool.

For those wondering, I’m talking about the imminent release of the PlayStation 3. Lord knows I wasn’t too impressed when it was announced a year ago, but recently, thanks to subscriptions to Engadget, Gizmodo and Joystiq I can’t even open my browser without being bombarded with temptation… To compound matters I was in the Target at Perimeter Place yesterday to get cereal and waters when I spy across the store, and it’s a big store, that they had a display model out, a working display model. And it was awesome.

So now I’m seriously thinking about trying my luck on Friday, I know I’ll get killed for doing so, but I can only hold out for so long, I’ve been without a PS2 and Xbox for 18 months now, I’ve served my time, and now I need to redevelop the callouses on my thumbs… Of course my chances of getting one are slim to none, but I’ve found out my local Circuit City may have as many as 50 units in stock come Friday…

*sigh*

Talk me out of this…
