“Double Cheeseburger? I’d hit it…” So, is McDonalds is promoting hott man-on-sammich action in it’s latest ad campaign? I’m lovin’ it! [via]

I got a fabulous email from the faboulous folks at Apple to remind me that I’ve not been using the fabulous iTunes Music Store recently… Which, technically, is not true, I’ve just been using my UK based account more than my US one.

Free iTunes Music Store Sampler

So, by way of an incentive, they are offering me a chance to download 13 free songs, and even though I already have a few of them, I jumped on it… It’s quite an eclectic selection they have too.

Free iTunes Music Store Sampler Playlist

This is the same deal they offer when you connect a virgin iPod to your mac or pc and it syncs with iTunes. Pretty good idea all in all, so click here if you have a US iTMS account (or can register one) and want 13 free songs.

It seems Disney is having trouble finding people to work on Toy Story 3. Without Pixar behind it, it just wouldn’t be the same, and the whole thing reeks of Disney looking to make a quick buck. [via]

I got a message from Dawn Keyotie asking me if I’d be interested in doing a little assignment, basically answer the 5 musical-based questions below… Easy peasy…

  1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
3986 songs which equates to roughly 14gb worth of data sitting on my secondary 80gb hard drive called, cryptically enough, “Music”
  2. The last CD you bought is
Now “bought” is a relative term… That last actual CD I actually bought was Linkin Park & Jay-Z – Collision Course. The last “virtual” CD I bought was U2 – How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb but the last CD I got was Doves – Some Cities, which isn’t available til March 1st…
  3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Umm… It was on the radio, I can’t even remember what it was or who it was by…
  4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you
    A sad song vibe:

    1. Ani DiFranco – Untouchable Face (Live)
    2. 3 Doors Down – Here Without You
    3. Ben Folds – Emaline (Live)
    4. Melissa Etheridge – Like The Way I Do (Live)
    5. Dixie Chicks – Top Of The World (Live)
  5. Who are you going to pass this stick to? (3 persons) and why?
Probably Hanni, Mark and Stu as I don’t know anyone else well enough…

It’s a cold, cold day in North Georgia today as freezing rain and sleet shuts down most of Metro Atlanta and surrounding areas.

Way below freezing

Yep, it’s a winter wonderland for the most part… And most Georgians have no idea on how to cope with this… I mean, it’s barely a few inches of icey snow, and everything is shutting down, compared to the huge snow storm in Boston last year where life went on pretty much as normal. Crazy…

It doesnt look too bad from downstairs The back deck Icicles on the deck Out front... The driveway The frozen flag out front People out sledding...

Oh well, it should return to something resembling normality tomorrow…

For the last few nights we’ve been watching season one of HBO’s Carnivale via netflix… And damn, it’s a weird, weird show, like Twin Peaks weird…

Carnivale

It follows a traveling carnival as it wends its way across the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression of the 1930′s, focusing on Ben Hawkins, a mysterious 18-year-old fugitive with hidden talents who is taken in by the carnival, and Brother Justin, a charismatic, shadowy evangelist who “speaks to god…”

And in 6 episodes (half of season one), that’s all we got… We have no clue as to what’s going on, who’s good or who’s bad and the answers to any other questions you might have… Very Twin Peaks weird…

The worst part is it’s so compelling! We have to keep on watching in the hopes that something, ANYTHING will happen. Season two has not long started on HBO, so we’ll have a long wait til those come out on dvd, since we don’t have HBO.

Blake Ross reveals the serious behind-the-scenes work involved with Firefox. “The best part of Firefox is that even as it’s skyrocketed to the top, it’s never really grown out of its humble roots as a skunkworks project that was by and large coordinated on caffeine highs at Denny’s. It has, in short, never quite grown up.” [via]

CNN founder Ted Turner attacked US TV network FOX News on Tuesday, labelling it “propaganda” for its stance towards the Bush administration. He likened it to the propaganda from 1930′s Germany. FOX replied with “Ted is understandably bitter having lost his ratings, his network and now his mind – we wish him well.” Harsh!

Online journals and camera phones are a “paedophiles’ dream” which have increased the risk to children, the Scottish Parliament has been warned. “A forensic psychologist spoke about the dangers of online journals, or blogs, and pictures posted directly online. Rachel O’Connell said adults could use weblogs to learn about children.” Talk about spreading fear… [via]
